Amongst many other lessons the past 25 years have taught us, we’ve learned funding goes furthest when placed, with trust, in the right hands.
Lasting change is built on relationships, and relationships are built on time. With donors who’ve invested in both, we’ve been able to reimagine the scale of our impact.
From the establishment of a National Wildlife Refuge in Honduras, to the development of historic Tribal land management agreements in New Mexico, we’ve seen the depth of change that comes when communities have the resources, and the trust, to lead the work.
We’re eager to be part of the movement towards philanthropy that recenters communities, focuses on relationships, and thinks long-term.
We hope that you’ll be part of it with us.
“We are moving more towards connecting and building power with people who have a different vision of what wealth means and what it could be. Trust in relationships is central to making that happen. And it’s both the process and the goal.”
— John Esterle, Former Co-Executive Director, The Whitman Institute
