Colors of the Community Cocktails: A Celebration of Art and Environment
Music, conversation and community were the main ingredients this summer for an unforgettable gathering of like-minded individuals, concerned about our planet’s climate future and the people most vulnerable to it.
The mural in Tenney Court Alley by Armando Silva, Colores de la Comunidad, which narrates stories of resilience and climate migration, was the perfect backdrop for many laughs and chatter between friends, muted only by the comforting sound of down-tempo latin jazz and hip-hop tunes by Audio Wallpaper.
It was an absolute pleasure to reconnect and share more about the realities of climate change and the work that TWP and companies like the Brendle Group are doing to remain optimistic about the future.
Local Fort Collins chefs Brie & Carmel and El Don Foodtruck also showcased their talent and creativity by turning rescued ingredients from Vindeket Foods market into delicious appetizers to accompany the refreshing beverages and fun conversations.
Odell Brewing beer and wine was flowing, along with two signature cocktails crafted by Old Town Distilling: “Turmeric Ginger Mule” and “Vanilla Old Fashioned”, in honor of our summer fundraising campaign, Plant Change, aimed to help female Honduran farmers start production of organic turmeric, ginger and vanilla for export that will diversify their income.
“The people in our partner communities just want a vote of confidence in their abilities, just one opportunity to be able to stay and thrive where they are.”
This recap of a beautiful evening can only be wrapped by thanking everyone who made this a reality: Kristina Cash, Organic Alternatives, the sponsors and vendors mentioned above, our incredible volunteers. And we especially are grateful to you, our community, for believing in the power of local people in the Americas and fueling our energy to continue the battle against climate change.
