Clean Cookstoves for Economic Development

Abilio Garcias - Maestro Fogonero

The Stove builders network (Maestros Fogoneros) has improved many lives. Abilio Garcia is a Maestro Fogonero and coordinator for our partner AHDESA in Honduras. He trains other Maestros Fogoneros so that they can have a stable job that they love. “In Honduras it is hard to find a stable job, so when you have one, you take care of it. I love what I do, I love serving people. It's great to see the happiness in someone's face when they are able to bring food home. The technicians who work with us are happy when they get paid for something they love to do.”

Oscar Lemus is a freelance Maestro Fogonero, he makes a living building stoves in his community Intibuca, Honduras and is witness to how these benefit people’s lives. “I feel happy because I get to interact with people, I see their realities and I tell them about the benefits for their health. It’s great to see how their homes change for the better. When my customers see the positive impact, they recommend me and that helps me expand my business.”
