Thanks to funds managed by TWP through the Forix Foundation, it was possible to improve and expand the facilities of the historic COEAS nursery.
Among the main improvements was the creation of an adequate space for the coordination of dispatching and receiving plants for reforestation. To strengthen its irrigation system and reduce the loss of plants due to lack of water, an electric pump was also purchased.
The COEAS nursery has multiple functions: in addition to producing and maintaining its own plants, it also serves as a collection center for donated species for reforestation. These facilities also receive volunteers and serve as a venue for environmental education talks for children, young people, and adults.
Manuel García, executive director of COEAS, emphasizes that, thanks to the support received, the nursery has significantly increased its production and maintenance capacity for reforestation species. In 2024, seedling production tripled from an average of 11,000 units per season in previous years to more than 35,000. This growth has made the nursery a key pillar in the reforestation and restoration of more than 200 hectares affected by the fires of recent years.
