Monument Gulch Tree Planting

Recently, the TWP Staff, TWP Board and some incredible volunteers planted nearly 400 Ponderosa pine seedlings in Monument Gulch. The Poudre River watershed, including Monument Gulch, was extremely affected by the 2020 Cameron Peak Fire and impacts are evident through large-scale erosion and lack of natural tree regeneration.

This reforestation event was only a small part of a much larger project to regenerate forests across the Cameron Peak burn scar, including both the Poudre River and Big Thompson Watersheds, over a number of years.

This massive reforestation project is a collaborative effort between several Larimer County non-profits, including:

Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed
Big Thompson Watershed Coalition
Larimer County Conservation Corps
The Nature Conservancy
Wildlands Restoration Volunteers
and Private Landowners
