Efforts against Gender-Based Violence.

Our project “Tz’unun: Ending Environmental Violence Against Indigenous Women in Guatemala through Empowerment in Community Forestry, Agroecology, and Collective Healing Spaces ” in  partnership with Utz Che’, was selected as one of the winners of  the 2020 USAID RISE Challenge, which aims to address gender-based violence (GBV) in environmental programs. “I was able to attend the healing workshops with the commitment of learning how to help other women that might be a victim of violence. We learned a lot through the workshops, including how to listen to our bodies and make time for ourselves when we need it. We learned about our connection to agriculture, medicinal plants and the importance of our relationship with them.”  - Lesbia Perez, Vice President of the Women’s Council, Community of La Bendicion.
