- When buying paper, choose recycled paper with post-consumer waste content.
- Use passive or active solar designs to heat your house and water.
- Contact your electric utility to switch your electricity source to a renewable one like wind energy.
- Insulate the cracks in your home, doors, windows, and your hot water heater.
- Set your thermostat warmer in summer and cooler in winter and use fans to circulate air.
- Turn off incandescent lights, computers, and TVs when you aren’t using them.
- Switch to compact fluorescent lightbulbs.
- Travel via bike, mass transit, or carpooling.
- Trade your car in for one with higher mpg, such as a hybrid vehicle, or a diesel vehicle modified to use biodiesel.
- Buy local and/or organic food.
- Reuse containers to buy food in bulk.
